Where can I get extra cards for my Articulate! game?

Image
Running out of cards If you've played Articulate! often enough, you might find you're getting too familiar with the cards, which starts to take away the fun. Fortunately there are a couple of ways to get extra cards to keep the game fresh. Buy the expansion set Articulate! was released in 1992, and only a year later they released an expansion pack optimistically named ' Extra Pack No. 1 '. While that remains the only expansion pack they've made, it is still in production, and can be bought for roughly the same amount of money as the original game.  It comes with the same number of cards as the original game (500 cards = 3,000 clues), but no board, timer or playing pieces. Articulate Extra Pack No.1 at Amazon Australia Download my unofficial Android app If you find that you're wanting more clues even with the expansion set, or you want a free option, I have written an Android app called Enunciate! that offers the e

What individual equities does the VDHG ETF hold?

The Vanguard Diversified High Growth (VDHG) ETF holds positions in seven other Vanguard funds to provide exposure to Australian, International, Small Company and Emerging Market equities, as well as a small amount of Australian and International bonds. Vanguard publishes the holdings of these funds separately, but does not provide an overall list of holdings and proportions for VDHG. I've combined the holdings of the individual funds (excluding the bond funds), and weighted their proportions by the individual funds' weights in VDHG to give their overall proportion, as at 31 October 2020. The proportions are presented as the value of the individual holding per $100,000 of VDHG.

How can I make my old car feel like new?

Image
Good engineering and regular maintenance can mean that cars last so long that an owner will start to envy the creature comforts of modern cars well before their old car needs replacement.  Internet-connected navigation and bluetooth music streaming make for a more pleasant and stress-free drive, but these features were missing in most cars from before around 2010. If you're considering spending tens of thousands to replace a reliable old car just to get those new features, you may be better spending less than $50 on a few gadgets to get a pretty similar experience. How can I add internet-connected navigation? This one is pretty obvious. Most of us already have an internet-connected device more than capable of in-car navigation - our smartphones. All you need for your car is a holder that keeps your phone securely in a glanceable location near the dash. That combination will outperform almost any built-in car navigation system, because apps like Google Maps give you detailed, update

How can I transfer money instantly in Australia?

Image
The normal, unreliable way Australia recently completed a piece of financial infrastructure called the New Payments Platform (NPP), which for the first time enabled real-time transfers between banks for retail customers, instead of the 1-2 business day transfers we had accepted historically. The problem is that the ability to send and receive instant transfers is still far from universal, for a couple of reasons: Many banks are still not properly connected to the NPP . As of 2020, many banks in Australia are still not able to either send, or receive through the NPP. This means that if the sender of funds is with a bank that does not support sending through the NPP, or the receiver of funds does not support receiving through the NPP, then the transfer will not be real-time. As of March 2020, only 78% of accounts were reachable via the NPP . Most banks have intentionally added delays to the system . As a fraud prevention measure, most banks will delay the first NPP payment to a new payee

How do credit cards work?

Image
What are the two rules of credit cards? You don't need to know exactly how credit cards work to use them, because the right way to use a credit card is easy to summarise in two rules: Always pay your statement balance by the due date Only use your card for purchases - not to access cash If you find your statement balance and due date on your monthly statement, and make sure you pay that statement balance by that due date, and you do that every single month, and if you only use your card for purchases, then you will be using your card perfectly, even if you don't know the nuts and bolts. That said, understanding how a credit card works will help you understand why you need to follow those two rules, and know what to do if you ever break one of them. What is a credit card? A credit card account is a line-of-credit. That means that it is a standing offer from the bank to lend you any amount of money up to your credit limit, without needing to apply for a separate loan each time yo

The easiest way to make bread at home takes less than ten minutes of effort in total, and requires no kneading at all. The catch: after mixing the dough, you need to let it sit for 18 hours before baking. This technique, known as 'No-Knead Bread' was created by Jim Lahey of the Sullivan Street Bakery. It now has many fans, and has inspired countless variations, because with very little effort or skill, you're able to create flavoursome, crusty, bakery-style loaves at home. What you need Ingredients Flour Salt Instant yeast Water Equipment Large bowl Digital scales Oven Dutch oven Baking Paper Scissors Recipe Ingredients 400 g all-purpose or bread flour, plus extra for dusting 8 g salt ¼ tsp instant yeast 320 mL water Method In a large bowl, add flour, salt and yeast, and give a few stirs to combine.
